National Climate Change Week: Fijian Parliament staff clean-up campaign

(2017-09-28)THE Parliament of Fiji staff also had their contributions towards National Climate Change week through a clean-up campaign at the Nasese area in Suva yesterday.

Deputy Secretary-General to Parliament Jeanette Emberson said the staff understood the important role and goal Fiji had in the upcoming COP23 and they were committed to supporting the initiative.

"People might have also noted as well that the Honorable Speaker is very heavily involved in the International Parliamentary Forums, advocating on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 on climate change and that's why we are out here," she said.

She said the staff had combed parts of Nasese picking up non bio-degradable items such as plastics, empty bottles, wrappers and waste papers.

Meanwhile the National Climate Change week will be closed by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at Sukuna Park at 10am tomorrow.
